How many Tylenol can you take in a day?

My bottle of regular strength tylenol says 12 in a day. Is that the same if you are pg? I looked it up on the internet and I didn't find anything! TIA!

  • Hubby is a Family Practice/ Emergency Medicine doc and says yes.

  • The question is, what's ailing you that you need so many?

  • Thanks! I have allergy induced migraines. I generally take two extra strength and a mountain dew chaser and that solves the problem, but I can't do the mountain dew nor can I find extra strength in the store. The RE is STILL (this has been two weeks) deciding whether I can take my shots or not. Getting a little annoyed because the shots mostly keep the migraines away (I've only had two in the year I've taken the shots!).

  • Ok Lovebug,

Here is what my OB has told me:you can have up to 300mg of caffeine a day (a 12 oz can of soda only has 45-8mg)! So if caffeine is what you're worried about go ahead with the Mountain Dew. Also Tylenol is fine, 2 every 4-6 hours. My OB has also ok'd me to continue taking Zyrtec as well as an albuterol inhaler. I understand that you are having to be more cautious but just though I would share the info I received yesterday. Smile

    Ugh, that completely sucks.

Thanks for the info.! Because I did IVF, my RE is SUPER careful. He believes caffeine can cause uterine contractions and miscarriage, so he has banned caffeine entirely :(. Probably being overcautious, but when you pay 20,000 dollars for a baby, you tend to be more cautious! I just can't understand why he won't give me the verdict on the allergy shots. It's been 3 weeks since my FET and a week since he said he'd give me an answer. I better call back!

  • I take a claritin (one of the safer allergy pills) every night before bed and also am still going to my allergy shots. Just make sure you tell your allergist that you are pregnant so that they do not increase the dose each time you go. I don't know how I would function without the shots and pills.
