Undigested food in poop?

Gross, I know...sorry!  But, last night I gave DS some very soft, small bits of carrot for dinner and this morning, it was all in his poop totally undigested and looked exactly how it did when I fed it to him.  What's up with that?  I mean, he doesn't have any teeth, so obviously he couldn't chew it up at all.  But, is it normal for it to come out the way it went in?  I thought it would get broken down in his tummy or something.  Is he still getting the vitamins and good stuff from it, or is there no point in me feeding it to him like this...maybe I should just puree it.  Confused!

Re: Undigested food in poop?

  • Carrots and corn and a few others seem to do that.

  • Totally normal, but it's still good to feed him finger foods b/c he's getting practice that he'll need when his main nutrition source switches from BF/FF to solids after 12mos.  Until 12mos, it's mainly just for practice.
