Anyone machine washed a boppy pillow?

I have two used boppy pillows that I'd like to throw in the wash.  I have a top loading Maytag Bravos with no agitator.  Do you think they'd come out ok?  I read you're supposed to put a sneaker in the dryer when you dry them.  But my sneakers aren't very clean!  Do you think dryer balls would work just as well?

Thanks!

  • I haven't washed specifically a boppy, but I've washed other pillows. I'd think it'll be fine. Just make sure the load is balanced. If you have two it'll be great. And yeah, dryer balls will be fine!

  • We had a used one I decided against washing. I febreezed it, then bought one of the waterproof covers to put over it.  Then one of the cute covers went over that.
  • I've washed mine multiple times. J. was a massive spitter upper. I have 2. I would switch them out and wash them at least once a week.

They are just fine. I never dried in the dryer. But I'd think dryer balls are fine.

  • I washed mine in my top loader when I had DD#1 and then put it in the dryer with tennis balls and it still came out completely lumpy and misshapen. I ended up just buying a new one with a couple of covers for DD#2 so since then I've just washed the covers and not the actual pillow. I have front loaders now, though, so I think it'd be a little safer that way. If you don't have an agitator, you might be fine with putting it in your top loader, though.

  • I washed DD's quite often.  It's a bit lumpy, but not bad and still the same shape.  I plan to use it for DD #2.

  • I washed DS and runied it! I was also told to put a sneaker in the dryer but it I dont want to put a shoe in with a pillow. I used 2 dryer balls and the thing is RUINED! I have tried everything I can think of to get the lumps out, but the stuffing is ruined :(. Im just buying a new one now. Try the frebreeze and the water proof pad that sounds like a really good idea!!

  • Yes, you can wash and dry Boppy Pillows. Here are some instructions that I found: wash your Boppy pillow in cold water on the delicate cycle by itself. Dry your Boppy pillow on low heat. We also recommend throwing few tennis balls or a sneaker (wrapped in a pillowcase) in the dryer to help the Boppy pillow keep its shape.
