Britax all the way in this house. I know they are a little pricey but they are ranked super high and when it comes to the safety of my children, I will pay the extra cost.
We have 2 evenflo triumph 65s. At least where I am in Canada, the police officer who helped us install our seats said that they are all equally safe, when you pay more you're paying for convenience features (like not having to rethread to move the harness up and down, cupholders, straps that don't twist).
We love our triumphs and got them on clearance for $60-80 which is $100 off here. We had an safety 1st alpha omega we had to throw due to a car accident (baby wasn't in it) and I thought it was fine at the time, but now don't like it as much as the evenflo- the harness had to be rethreaded to move it up and down and the straps were constantly twisting.
We just got the Britax marathon and the Sunshine (Diono) Radian seats. In my opinion, its worth it to spend the money on these types of things if you can....
We also have an Evenflo Triumph for DD1. It's a great seat, easy to adjust the harness and tighten/loosen the straps, easy to install, and fits great RFing in our little car.

We have the Graco My Ride 65 and my dd loves it. She falls asleep as soon as we put her in the car. I also like that it has cup holders and lots of cushion like the more expensive brands for half the price.
I'd recommend the Graco MyRide. We have it in my moms car and DS seems to like it. All seats have to lass the same tests, so one seat is not necessarily safer than another. We have a Radian in our car. Since they just changed their name (from Sunshine Kids to Diono) you may be able to find a SSK for cheap.

This. It is just as safe as Britax and much more affordable for those of us who can't afford Britax. My DS loves it.
