DS has had some issues with adhesion on his penis. His doctor said I should start using Vaseline to keep the gunk away. Anyone have any experience with these? Is there anything cloth diaper safe I can use instead of the Vaseline? Thanks.
I was just in a Baby Care class tonight and the instructor spoke about this very issue! She said this is one of the few times Vaseline (petroleum jelly) is the best and/or only solution. I can't say from my own personal experience though...
We use Vaseline and fleece liners. We tried using Earth's Best non-petroleum jelly with liners, but as much as I wanted it to work as well as Vaseline, it didn't. We are using liners because we have to keep up the Vaseline til he's 1 or so and I wouldn't be able to use cloth at all if I used disposables with it.
We put a square piece of gauze over his petroleum jellied penis.
We're dealing with penile adhesion as well, and this is the approach we're taking. Our pedi told us to apply vaseline for 3 or 4 weeks while things reheal after the manual retraction he performed.
