Trouble TTC

Progesterone and heart palpitations?

Hey ladies,
I am 7 days dpIUI and have been on progesterone since 2dpIUI.  I have read that some people have heart palpitations when on progesterone.  I am only taking 100mg of Endometrin once a day.  But I seem to have palpitations a couple times a day... normally when I am just sitting still.  Anyone else experienced this?  Should I call my RE and let them know?  Or should I take it as just a side effect and let life go on?  I don't test until 1/3... my RE doesn't do betas for IUIs.

Re: Progesterone and heart palpitations?

  • I don't think it's a bad idea to just give the office a call. That may give you a little peace of mind.

  • I have a hole in my heart, and progesterone (even my natural cycle) gives me premature ventricular contractions (PVC's). I get them in the 1WW, and they are worse with supplements. I'm not sure if that can happen with ladies with normal hearts though. My PVC's are benign unless I get too many at a time, or get short of breath or feel faint with them. They feel like flutters and palpiations, and sometimes I feel a big "thump" in either my chest or neck when my heart kind of skips a beat.

It could also be anxiety caused by the Endometrin and any other hormonal meds you have taken.

But I would give a call if it is making you nervous.
