Has anyone started dreaming about your little one's nursery yet?
I definitely have. We've got one room in our house that has been completely untouches since we bought over a year ago, since we knew it would become the nursery. Reading baby bargains also told me it's time to do a bit of research, since it's recommended to order some big ticket items around 20 weeks.
Please tell me I'm not the only one!!
We're looking at spending some money on a crib (Capretti) and glider/recliner (Monte), then doing the rest mostly DIY or as cost effectively as possible.
For colour combinations, I'm thinking grey/white/coral for a girl, and still on the fence about a boy (something with green and taupe). We've decided not to go with a theme.
Anyone else put any thoughts into this? Go! ![]()

Re: Lets Talk Nurseries!
I want to do princess/fairy tale theme for a girl (not Disney-ish though) with pink/green/cream or pink/tan/cream, and we found a cute plane/train bed set for a boy in blue and green. We saw a cream antique-looking crib and furniture set for a girl, but I might want to keep the furniture more neutral since we are going to get the crib that changes to a bed.
I really want netting to go over the crib (see below) if we have a girl, but I don't know if it's safe. Does anyone know? I see it all over the internet.

I am going to use my DS crib that is still great! But we have already picked out our nurseries for a boy or a girl.
This is for a girl This is for a boy of course
We are going very simple and fun... We don't have a lot to budget, so these are great options for us.
We did this for DD's crib but had to take it down as soon as she stood up since she was pulling on it.
We'll be moving just a few weeks before I give birth - it will be a miracle if we can get the crib back together and find the sheets for it!
I was thinking that, but how soon can the baby roll around? We plan on keeping the baby in our room for a while first, so the baby may not be in there at all when the netting is up. Hmmm, is it worth it for cute nursery pics and my own satisfaction for only a few months of not really even using the nursery? I guess it depends on the cost.

Ada started pulling up and standing at around 9 months give or take? That's when she started really yanking on the net-thing over her crib so we took it down. We got hers at IKEA so it was only like $5.
In my house I have two spare rooms-one is pink and the other is blue (from the previous owners). I like the idea of a jungle for a boy-I like Peter Rabbit too but that would be something I would have to change in a couple years.
Not sure about the girls room. I was thinking of a pink and black Paris kind of theme.
I'm lucky I'm in printing so I can print all the wall mural stuff myself.
Then again there is something to be said about a clean and classic style like this,
So pretty much no-I have not decided hahaha
I have been making plans for a while now... I will probably be converting my office into the nursery, and have some ideas regarding layout and what kind of items I will be buying.
DH isn't convinced I should give up my study - probably because he's worried I'll move it elsewhere and then my mess won't be as well contained :S. It will probably also depend on what items I get second hand vs what I buy new, but most likely there won't be a theme as such except perhaps for colours if I can do it.
I was just lurking on this post, because i am a little jealous of those of you who get to have nurseries! We are in NYC and a 1 bedroom apartment. Our nursery is going to be next to our bed
Loved reading through all the lovely ideas though! Maybe by the time LO is 16 or so, we can afford a 2 bedroom
Our baby will be in our room too. So we won't be doing much decorating. The crib is still up from DD lol
if its two girls, this is my inspiration pic
two boys...

Not sure about 1 of each sex.
You're not alone! I've been planning the nursery too! We're turning one of the spare bedrooms (now DH's "Man Room") into the babies room and I've picked out white furniture and plan to do a Classic Pooh theme.

Imagine a love so strong that saying hello and goodbye the same day was worth the sorrow.I got it from Cocalo on babysupermall.com its way cheaper. I thought I could use it for boy or girl but it is definately more boyish so you may want to find out the sex because it is an expensive set.

My Blog
we really want a dr. seuss theme with character appliques popping up around the room on the walls since we can't paint and we'll use bold colors in the furniture and decor. i love this theme and can't wait to start it, but to be honest it was originally DH's idea. (i secretly have a stash of old school winnie the pooh toys that i used to have when i was little and will give to our child)
it would be for either a boy or a girl. we're using a bassinet to start and then will use a mini convertible crib. but we have plenty of room to play with.
cat in the hat bedding is my favorite but all characters will be somewhere in the room. toys will be the developmental ones with crazy bold colors (i like these anyways i could play with them myself lol)
I LOVE this purple inspiration pic! I'm feeling very certain that we're having a girl and I definitely want a very girly nursery. I love seeing everyone's ideas!
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."
Going with gender neutral - "Lil' Monsters" theme..
My inspiration... I can switch up the colors a lil as needed..
We painted the future baby's room while we were TTC. It has a white chair rail and is green above it and dark brown below it. I'm going to try to PIP of the huge dragon cross-stitch I finished this summer (that I've been working on/off for 7 yrs!) that will go in baby's room. 2012 is the chinese yr of the dragon and DH & I love dragons anyways so it all works. The green part of the walls match the green mat in the frame & the green parts of the dragon.
We are team green and will be doing a beach theme. DH's family has a beach house that is very special to the entire family. We have always admired the photography of a local artist, and will be buying a large, framed picture for over the crib. The walls will be baby blue and we have tan carpeting with white trim. We are thinking about doing wainscot on the wall where the crib will be as well.
I feel like the pressure is on, lol. I worked really hard on Shane's and it came out amazing. I'm hoping I can come up with something equally as fun for this baby.
This is what we did for Shane:

I'd like to do another book-ish theme, but I'll wait until we know whether it's a boy or girl. I think an Eric Carle room would be a lot of fun, but so would a fairy tale theme.
I already have a child of each gender so the new baby will just be in the room with which other child. Neither of their rooms are decorated yet though.
If it's a girl, the girls room will be painted a pale yellow with white furniture and pops of pink and orange.
If it's a boy, the boy room is going to be a pale blueish/gray color and it's Cars themed because my son loves the movie Cars.
