Would you call Pedi?

Robbie has had a cold now for over a week. Symptons are runny/stuffy nose sneezing and snot comes out and coughing. No feaver or yucky mood. Just common cold things. But it will just not go away. We have inclined his crib, use Vicks baby rub on his chest, humidifier in his room. Now DH and I both have sore throat this morning that will not go away. So I think we have whatever it is as well.  Would you take DS to the DR?

  • You should do what your gut is telling you to do.

Personally, I wouldn't.  The only reason I would call or make an appointment is if he had a fever, was unable to keep any food down, seemed really cranky (like an ear infection or something), or was super lethargic.  They can't do anything for a cold.

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

  • What color is his snot?  If it's clear and runny, I'd probably hold off.  If it's thicker and green/yellow, I'd make an appointment because it could be an infection which can be treated.

Poor lil guy!  It sucks seeing your baby sick, especially when you're not feeling 100%. I hope you all feel better soon.

  • Kids for some reason stay sick forever!!!  We have had a snotty nose going on 3 weeks now.  But no fever so its just the bug of the week making its rounds.  I usually only call the dr if he has a fever but even then there isn't a lot they can do.

  • I would probably at least call the Nurse line, cuz I'm a worry wart that way.
  • We just got back from our 15 mo check up and I metioned that Audrey has had a cold for about 9 days now.  (snotty nose and intermitten cough)  She asked if it was showing signs of going away, (no)  Then the next question is what color is it?  It's green most of the time.  It started out clear, now it's green, so she said when they have green for more than 5 days it's an infection.  The Dr said she probably has a sinus infection and prescribed a prescription.  She did ask how she was acting, which is fine, just fussy when she is tired (or throwing a tantrum), sleeping fine and eating fine too, she said it would probably clear up on it's own, but would rather us give her the prescription, and all symptoms should be gone before the 10 days is up and if not to call.

Since he has had it for so long now, I would call and ask if he should be seen or continue to wait it out.

    Good Advice :)
