Baby Names

Andrew Reid (R-surname)... No one in my fam likes Reid.

Hello All, So we recently found out we are having another boy and have always loved the name Andrew.... so needless to say we are naming him Andrew, I didn't really have a middle name in mind, but liked the name Reid..... we told our family were thinking Andrew Reid and no one liked it!  Just curious if any of you have an opinion on the middle name Reid or have heard of a great middle name that goes well with Andrew.

TIA!!!!!

  • I think they're being ridiculous. It's a perfectly nice name and I don't understand why they'd be all wigged out over a middle name in the first place. If you like it, use it.

ETA: Though with an R in all three names, it might be a bit much, now that I look at it again.

  • good thing its not their decision!! There is nothing wacky or weird about Reid. It's a nice name.  But families always have so many opinions.

  • Reade is a family name for us... I'm thinking about using it. I deff like the spelling of 'Reid' better!

  • I very much dislike the name Reid and don't see the appeal of it. I went to elementary school with a Reid and he cried about EVERYTHING! When I think about the name I can't help but think of a wussy.
  • My DS is named Reed so I obviously love the name.  It is also my dad, brother, and cousin's mn and was my grandmother's maiden name so it has been around and used a lot in my family.  Sometimes it takes time for people to warm up to a name if it is uncommon to them.  I think it sounds great with Andrew, although I generally prefer reserving the mn spot for a family name.  If Andrew doesn't have any significance maybe you should look for a name that does carry some family history for the mn and then chances are your family wouldn't complain.  Just my .02

  • I like it a lot, even more that it is a family surname.  It is one of the names that both my husband and I like if we have a boy.
  • I happen to really like Reid, and Andrew Reid sounds cute together.

DD was going to be Andrew James if she had been a boy.

  • I love that!

This is why we kept our names secret until the babies were born.  He's your child, name him what YOU like.

  • I like Reid a lot and I think Andrew Reid sounds really nice. Don't name your baby to please your family. Name your baby the name that YOU want to.

  • I love the name Reid. If we have two boys I'm trying to convince DH that Reid is a great FN option but if not we'd probably go with Andrew Reid as a compromise. Love it!
