Pump Parts - when to replace

How do you know if your pump parts need replacing?  I've replaced the membranes once already, just because.  I saw in a post the other day about someone needing to replace their membranes a few times within the first 6 or so months.  How will I know if they're bad?

I am starting to get about half and ounce or so less each morning from both sides.  I still feel decently full, particularly on the big producing side, so just curious if maybe it's due to the membranes or something.

Re: Pump Parts - when to replace

  • i have no idea when you are supposed to do it but i just replaced parts and i'm getting more now. i think my breastshields were getting warped cause there is much better suction with the new ones. the replacement parts aren't too expensive so i think it's worth replacing to find out.

  • hmm, I didn't even think about replacing the shields.  Good point, I'll get on that today.  Thanks!
  • It completely depends on how much you pump. I pumped 3-5 times a day and replaced mine monthly. JUST IN CASE! Some people say they replace when they notice they can't pump as much. If you replace them and it doesn't "help" - then you can continue using the old ones KWIM? Trial and error.
