Medela PISA Breast Pump

I saw someone mention this pump specifically in another post and I had never heard of it before.  For anyone who has this pump can you tell me about it and what you like/dislike about it?  I was given a 2007 model of the regular Medela pump but after reading more about this model on Amazon I am intrigued because I am really dedicated to doing all that I can do exclusively bf my twins.  Thanks in advance for any info! :)

Re: Medela PISA Breast Pump

  • I have it and like it! I EP and switched from an Avent to the PISA and am glad I did. It's quiet, portable and has the option of different breast shield sizes, which I needed. The only things I don't love about it is that there are a lot of parts which have a lot of little crevices to wash, but I only wash it once a day and keep it in the fridge the rest of the day since I use it so frequently. I also wish the tubing was a little longer...but I think I could order longer tubes if I wanted. Other than that, I really like it!

  • i have the 2008 backpack model. I've used it A LOT with DD1 and now that I'm pretty much an EP, lord knows how many "gallons" it's got on it.

It was highly recommended to me by another friend who has a similar active lifestyle, always on the go. So I didn't really compare other brands to know many of the differences. It has 3 power source options, wall adapter, battery pack adapter, and you can order additional cigarette adapter for the car. The backpack has pretty decent storage compartment and pockets for bottles as well as your wallet or cell phone if you're ever w/o babies (pump at work) and don't need a diaper bag. My 11 yr old son has even worn it on his back through the mall for me when we went to get Santa pictures, lol.

I reordered a new parts kit off Amazon when I found out I was pg with the twins.. It was also nice that when they were born, the hospital used Medela Symphony pumps and my "booby trumpets" (or whatever they are properly called) were a universal fit when the LC fitted me for a different sized shield. (The tubing was different, though.)

I have noticed that the suction is not a great as it was 3 years ago, but they are only warrantied for a year or so, I think.

I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of it.
