Recommend your Sleep Training Methods

What worked for you? DS is refusing to sleep in his crib, or even the pack and play. We went away 2 month ago and put him in bed with us, ever since that he refuses to sleep for more than an hour without us. I tried the Ferber Method last month, but after night 3 with no progress I gave us.

Thanks so much!!!!

  • I think you caved before Ferber would have worked. Night 3 was hell for us, night 4 was easier, and after that it was smooth sailing. No method is going to work magic instantly - the no-cry methods take longer, typically.

  • Give Ferber another chance. It worked like a charm for us....the first few nights were HELL, but I have been a new person since she's been sleeping through the night. Try again- good luck!!

  • We just transitioned from the Rock and Play beside our bed to her crib over Christmas weekend.

For several weeks I had been placing her in her Rock and Play before she fell asleep and would read to her until she fell asleep.  It usually meant reading for 10-30 minutes, but I loved it and so did my husband!

We stayed at my parents house starting last Wednesday-Saturday night.  At their house she has a crib in the guest room we stay in.  I tried her in the crib the first night, unsure if it would work... to my surprise she laid in the crib as I read to her... and she fell asleep.  She woke up twice, I gave her a pacifier, read one short story and she was out again.

When we got home on Sunday Night, I thought... ok, we might as well try to put her in her crib in her room.  Sure enough, I placed her in the crib and began to read to her.  She fell to sleep quickly.

We are now on 7 nights of crib sleeping, 3rd night of crib sleeping in her own room and it's going fantastic!

**I tie whatever tank top I was wearing under my shirt that day to the outside of  her crib railing so she can smell my scent.  I really think that helps, especially since she is used to sleeping in her Rock and Play next to our bed!
