Welcome, Lucy! xp from High Risk

I was admitted to the hospital on November 1 for IC.  After eight weeks of bed rest, Lucy Tatum- named for my maternal grandmother and my husband's maternal grandmother- entered the world in a dramatic fashion.  While I will save the details for a longer birth story post, I will say that being in the hospital already was the greatest blessing when she decided to make her way into the world.

Lucy was born at 2:05 pm on December 20, weighing 2 lb and 10 oz, 14.5 inches long.  She's doing very well, graduating from the ventilator day one and breathing completely on her own by day three.  Lucy's cranial ultrasound is normal, her feedings are increasing every nine hours- there is much to celebrate.

I know that we have a long road ahead before we bring our sweet girl home.  I look foward to sharing with each of you through the ups and downs.

  • Congrats on the birth of your LO!  It sounds like she is doing well and I hope that continues.  My boys have been in NICU for the last 13 weeks.  Ask as many questions as you need and post often because the ladies on this board are really a great support.

  • Congrats on your daughter and great job getting through 8 weeks of bed rest. You gave her a great gift getting to 28 weeks. It sounds like her arrival may havebeen crazy, but it is great that she is doing so well now. I hope her NICU stay continues to go smoothly!

  • Congrats on your baby!! Hope she continues to do well. It is definitely a long road, but it is great to have this board where ladies are so supportive. My twins were born at 27w5d. DD came home after 10 weeks, but my son is still there at 19 wks old. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about NICU stays.

    Good luck!!

  • Congrats! I was on hospital bedrest for 4 weeks due to IC. I delivered at 26 weeks. If this helps at all, DD did awesome in the NICU and we were always waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never did. She came home over 2 weeks before her due date.
Born at 26 weeks 2 days gestation, 2 pounds 2 ounces due to IC/PTL,
and after 82 days in the NICU, our little girl is home!

  • Congrats on your little girl!  It sounds like she is doig amazing so far.  My twins were also born at 28 weeks and are doing great at home after a 10 week NICU stay.
  • Congrats!! Your LO was about the same size as my DD. She was 2lbs 11oz and 15 inches long. She was in the NICU for 8 weeks. Sounds like LO is doing great! I hope she continues to have an uneventful NICU stay. I agree with all pp, don't be afraid to ask questions and voice any concerns you may have. I probably got on a lot of the nurses nerves because I was there so much but I wanted to be as hands on as possible.

  • Congratulations on your little girl!  I love her name.  My daughter was born at 26w5d due to IC also so I've been where you are.  I hope your NICU stay is short.  Please keep us updated on her progress!
  • Congrats on her arrival! Glad to hear she is doing so well. She sounds like a fighter.
