We're finishing up our nursery and with two of everything are running out of room!
How important is a rocking/glider type of chair. I was thinking I might nurse on our adjustable tempur pedic bed, sitting up. Should a chair be a priority item, or would it be the worst thing in the world if we didn't get a rocking chair due to space constraints and finances?
Re: How Important is a Rocking/Glider Chair
I never used one with any of my children. We always sat in the keeping room to feed and never really rocked because I didn't want it to become something they "had" to have in order to fall asleep.

I nursed/bottle fed in bed (easier since my DH had to help with all feedings the first 3 months).
My mom would use the glider to rock them to sleep if she was helping out, but mostly it just takes up space/holds clothes now.
I think it will get more use when I move it to the new baby's room and only have one to feed at night.
It's funny, this was the one item I 'had to have', but I am so happy we didn't spend a ton of money on it - it will be a good reading chair as the kids get bigger.
Thanks for all the great feedback. My mother and aunts seem to think this is a "Must Have" item, but I don't share that affinity. We spent a fortune on our Tempur Pedic adjustable bed, and I think as long as I"m relaxed and comfortable, the babies will be, too, and that's what matters most.
I'm glad you asked this! I'm starting to brainstorm the seating arrangements because we don't have living room furniture on the main level of the house (where the bedrooms are), and I'm not sure a chair wide enough to nurse twins would fit in the babies' room.
I think we'll stick with a loveseat and comfy arm chair in the dining/sitting room, and consider a thrift sale glider in their room when only one baby needs to be held. I've seen them on my military base's yard sale website for $50ish bucks, which is fine by me.
We use ours all the time. In fact, now that they are 1, we use it more and more. I want to buy a new one since what we are using is a hand me down.
This past weekend was a great example. It's Christmas and the entire house was sick- including the dog. Both kids had an ear infection and we had two horrible nights of not much sleep. I was thrilled to have our glider!
If you are on the fence, my thinking is wait until you have the kids, see what your needs will be and how you will use the nursery. I think you'll know better what you need once you spend some time with the kids.
