I found out via u/s at 8 wks - when we first discovered we were expecting twins. We were lucky to find the dividing membrane right away, so we knew we were having mono/di twins.

Your doctor likely already knows, so you would need to ask. It is easiest to tell early on in the pregnancy, because as the pregnancy progresses, it is possible for the 2 placentas to appear to be one due to their placement. It was very clear at my first ultrasound at 6w that my girls were di/di with separate sacs and placentas.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer.
3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book.
IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d.
We were told ours are mono/di at our 8 week ultrasound when we found out they were twins. They looked a lot closer and confirmed it at our 11 week NT Scan.

This. I found out on the first u/s at 10w6d. Sometimes it takes longer to determine mo/di or mo/mo if the membrane can't be visualized.
My RE thought from the beginning (7 Weeks) that our babies were in the same sac. At 10 weeks, the dividing membrane showed up on the US. At our 12 week peri appt, he told us that our babies are in two sacs, but the same placenta....mono/di. Good luck!
I only had a dating ultrasound and intake appointment with a nurse. She didn't tell me much about twin pregnancy. I go back and meet with the doctor on Jan 4. From looking at other ultrasounds I am assuming my babies are in different sacs, is this a correct assumption?
In my totally not-medical-opinion, that looks like 2 sacs to me. I can't visualize the placentas, but I'd say their either di-di or mono-di at least.

After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!
