Brita Filters

My DF bought me one of those single serving Brita water bottles.  The filter goes righ ton the cap.  I guess I went through too many plastic water bottles (b/c tap and other water just taste gross to me).  I'm worried about the safety.  Do you ladies know if its safe to use the Brita Water Bottles?

It says they are BPA-free, so I don't see why they would be a problem.

I haven't heard they weren't safe - and I'm pretty sure they are.

Well, I figured they were safe too, but if you pour the water into a white cup, you see all the black dust particles from the filter.  I'm wondering if that's safe.

Just rinse a lot of water through the filter.  Those are just loose activated charcoal particles that come out when they are new.  They wont hurt you, but I just don't like chunks in my water!

Just rinse a lot of water through the filter.  Those are just loose activated charcoal particles that come out when they are new.  They wont hurt you, but I just don't like chunks in my water!

You have to submerge the filter in water for 15 minutes or something, the black particles shouldn't be in your water all the time.  We use a Purr water faucet cover because the water here is weird.  I just run water through it for 15 minutes when I change the filter.

I just bought some too. I think they are safe. The direction say to run a full bottle of water through the filter before you use it. You may want to run two bottles through just to be extra safe.
