Engineering jobs in Atlanta

FIL recently had surgery and he returned work right before Christmas. He was then informed that his position has been eliminated and he was being laid off. He would like to look for engineering jobs in the Atlanta area. He has apparently worked in manufacturing but that's all I know. Does anyone have any recommendations on what companies to look at or know of anyone who is hiring?
