still pulling at ears on antibiotics...

were on the 3rd antibiotic for 6 weeks now, this was azithromyacin. This was supposed to clear it up in 5 days. He's still pulling at his ears.

do I take him back in or give the antibiotics a few more days to kick in and do something?

so frustraing!

tell me your ear infection stories...I'm not sure what's next?

That sucks. I'm sorry. I would do both--keep giving antibiotics AND bring him back in. Good luck!

pulling on ears means nothing... they actually say most kids won't pull on their ears with an EI b/c it hurts.

unless he's still got a fever and is miserable- i wouldn't worry about the ear pulling.

sometimes it can take many days for the abx to really work... i had to bring grayson into the ER once when he was 104.1 on day 3 of abx for an EI - and they said it's not uncommon to take many days for it to do the job... sure enough a couple days later he was finally fever free.... and then a few months later got tubes b/c he got so many EI's... but he's never pulled his ears with them.

well I know they say that, but for ryan ear pulling=ear infection.

He never messes with his ears unless there's been an infection and he's had one for the last two months and on our round 3 of antiobiotics, soo... hmm

He still is acting like he is dizzy and falls into everything. Im taking him back in the morning.

He does not have a fever, but is still really cranky.

thanks! I was hoping to avoid tubes but its looking likely...

I was told from our pediatrician that whenever there is a pain anywhere head related babies will go to their ears. When DS had a sore throat he went to his ears(this is when the pedi told me this). When he is teething he goes to his ears as well. So, there may be a possibility that he could be having something else bother him rather than an ear infection.
