After their amazing gesture of caroling and proving to be kind, thoughtful people, they ticked me off yesterday. They "joked" about tailgating at the hospital while I am in labor. So I "joked" that we weren't going to call them when we were headed to the hospital.
I am taking this little joke of theirs kind of seriously because last year when we went to a memorial mass and dinner at church for DH's grandfather, they went out to the parking lot and starting drinking before the dinner. The dinner was in a hall in the church immediately after and ended up being late because they were partying in the freaking parking lot!
It is the birth of a child! Not a sporting event! DH just thinks I am finding something to complain about his family about. I am going to get a mani/pedi with MIL and SIL tomorrow so I am going to say something to her.
Forgive me for wanting them to take something in their life seriously. Plus I don't want people who have been drinking to hold my hours old baby!
Re: Going back on my word: I am going to complain about the ILs
I wouldn't want drunk people holding my baby or anywhere NEAR me after I just delivered.
This might be partially because I am not a fan of being around people who are intoxicated, but I do think there is a valid argument there regardless.....
Hopefully they were joking :S
My husband and his Dad joked about doing the same since they can't bring in alcohol into the hospital and I thought it was funny! BUT I know they were totally joking and wouldn't really be drinking out in the parking lot! That would be ridiculous.
