Phoebe Eloise is here! Fast Birth story (7 hours start to finish!):Woke up on the morning of the 22nd and was thinking that I needed to practice my hypnotherapy. Still in bed a few minutes later (5:46 AM), I hear a pop and race out of bed; my water had broken. My wife was a rock star supporting me and managing things since contractions immediately started at 3 minutes apart and seemed to have a double peak. When I arrived (9:30) at the hospital I was five centimeters dilated and entirely effaced, but she had rotated and I had horrible back labor. At the time all they said was that "she had some turning to do." There was no adding fear or mention of intervention. I spent a couple hours in the tub on my hands and knees (sore arms!) making weird yoga-like noises not from this planet. My doula coached me through it.All I can say is that it was like being on a ride. My body directed me to do exactly what it needed to do and the doula/midwife/nurse helped me focus my energy efficiently. Had I not trusted them completely I don't know that I could have gotten through it because fear might have made the pain too much.I didn't have a birth plan, but no one even once mentioned meds, even when I was asking to be put in twilight sleep, under general anesthesia, and eventually even clubbed to death or shot. Why - because I never said my code word that we had just discussed at my appointment the day before! (They did ask me whether I remembered my code word, but that was it.)Back labor stopped which told them that the baby had turned and I moved to the bed on all fours. Just a lip of my cervix was left. When the midwife examined me it really hurt and I may have told her that she would make a horrible lesbian. I turned onto my side, pushed three times, and at 1:07 PM I gave birth to Phoebe! I remember during a contraction early on (before the tub) looking at the baby isolette and being so incredibly excited to find out whether we would have a boy or a girl! It is just now hitting me that I have a baby girl and the excitement is unreal. She is healthy, beautiful, and ernest. 6 lbs. 6.2 ounces, 19.5 inches. Can't thank you enough for your guidance, which led me to AICGB, MAMAH, and Fertility Solutions.
And thank YOU for YOUR guidance, which led me to a very successful Fertility Solutions consult and upcoming diagnostic tests...hopefully I'll be in your shoes within the year.
Enjoy your beautiful girl!

Congrats!
I just started browsing here and other sites to gather info with the hopes of starting this journey in a few months. I see you went to AICGB and Fertility Solutions and I was hoping you could offer advice regarding starting at one or the other? It looks like we'll likely choose one of the 2 ( only other choice would be BWH). Does AICGB ever use meds? I'm just wondering g if it's better to have more options immediately available (I.e. fertility solutions) vs going the more seemingly natural, cheaper route at AICGB and then potentially needing to switch? Any pros/cons or advice in general would be greatly appreciated, however I realize this might be a tough request of you with a newborn! Certainly, if anyone else out there has advice regarding this topic (basically starting with a midwife vs. RE), I'd love to hear from you too!
Thanks
