Cramps anyone?

Last night I had some pretty major cramps going on for about four hours.  It hurt when I laid down, when I walked, when I did anything.  Sometimes they were stronger, which made me concerned that these were contractions.  I drank a bunch of water and still no help.  I ended up falling asleep in between counting.  I woke up this morning and still have some cramping, but not nearly what it was.

Called the on-call OB...they said that it wasn't labor and just ligaments stretching...but all I can think is how is that possible when it was lasting for so long?  Luckily, LO is moving around as normal, no spotting or anything like that.  Has anyone else experienced this?

First-time pregnancy and I think I'm finally starting to get nervous about actually knowing when labor is happening.

Re: Cramps anyone?

  • Yes, this started happening for me this past week as well. I almost went to the hospital one morning because they were so painful. They eventually subsided tho. I did use a heat sock on my back and it helped a little bit--but not much. I drank water and walked/sat/laid down and it didn't change anything either. At least it means SOMETHING is happening, right? Good luck!

  • Yep, I've had the cramping.  I figured it was my body's way of having some practice contractions.  Unless they're timetable, I wouldn't worry about it.

  • YES, I have had some super strong cramps/ contractions for days now. Some even painful. Then last night for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night I had significant contractions that came on about every 10-20 minutes. I was out of town at my in-laws (2 hours away) so I was pretty concerned that something was happening. But we're back home today and no major cramps/ contractions. So I think they are contractions but I think they could go on for another couple weeks....we'll see!
