We haven't 100% decided, but I know 4 hrs in the car round trip in one day is going to be miserable... my family still wants me to come visit but I'm thinking 3 wks from my due date and being horribly uncomfortable qualifies as a good reason to just stay put. Anyone else hanging home for Xmas instead of traveling?

Re: Not traveling for Xmas?
I think it would break my heart to skip seeing family for Christmas!
Tonight we're traveling 45 there, 45 min home...tomorrow we're traveling 1 1/2 hr there, 1 1/2 hr home...Monday we're traveling 1 1/4 hr there, 1 1/4 hr home. I KNOW that I will be MISERABLE but I wouldn't miss any of these gatherings unless I were in the hospital or on strict bed rest! I mean, IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!

All of our family is about a 4-5hour drive one way so at 38 weeks, we defintely decided it would be best to stay behind this year. We had my in-laws up a couple of weeks ago where we celebrated our Christmas, but because some health issues my dad is having right now my parents canceled their trip to come see us last weekend. I'm defintely feeling homesick since its the first Christmas I haven't been with my family, especially since last weekend fell through. The reassuring part is that I know I'll hopefully see all of them very soon with our little guy's arrival. Lucky to still be here home with my DH.
No way would I drive 4 hours in 1 day at this point. We're most likely skipping my grandparents next weekend & that's only 1 hour each way. (FWIW my doctor said I can go 1 hour from my hospital max.)
It's a bummer to miss out but I don't want to be miserable riding in a car or far from home in case labor starts.
I didn't travel for Christmas but I did send Hubby 4 hours and a mountian pass away to see his dad who's in the hospital. Hubby came home yesterday am thinking his dad was on the mend but by yesterday evening he had taken a turn for the worse and now Hubby's headed back over tomorrow. His dad is doing so poorly that his brother is flying in from NY to see him.
I have a dr appt in the morning and I'm going to ask if I can go too because FIL may not pull through. I'm hoping that since I'm not due for another month, I've had an uneventful pg and I haven't had any BH or other contrax the dr will give me to ok to go.
