How are you sleeping these days?

I've slept pretty well during this pregnancy.  However, starting last week at 36 weeks, I've slept like crap.  I wake up from the pain of the carpal tunnel, and now I'm just up from anxiety, I think.  And/or anxiousness.

How is sleep coming for you all these days?  Anyone else have labor so much on their mind that it's waking them up or keeping them up late?

Re: How are you sleeping these days?

  • Sleep? What is that?  My hips are starting to bother me, so I can sleep comfortably for an hour or two then I wake up. Or these pregnancy dreams have kicked in full swing and I wake up thinking what the heck was that. But of course, I dare not say anything to anyone else about not getting any sleep. I got tired of the response "Well if you think you aren't sleeping now, just wait" UGH!

  • between the hip pain, the shoulder pain (from always being on one side or the other) its almost easier to sit up in a hard back chair and fall asleep!

oh and dont forget that i get up about 5 times a night to pee....and i am so hat and sweaty that i cant stand it.

  • I'm sleeping very well...sorry.  I had more trouble sleeping before I got pregnant than I do now.  I attribute that to self medicating, can't do that when you're pregnant.  It took me a good two weeks to be able to sleep on my own in the 1st tri, but now we're in the swing of things and I don't ever want to get back in the habit of having to take something or drink something to sleep.

  • Not sleeping well, but it's not from anxiousness.  The carpal tunnel and the restless legs and the pee breaks and needing to sit up to turn over....***YAWN***  It's a cruel joke by Mother Nature (who I am beginning to think must actually be a man!  LOL) that in the last few weeks we can sleep, WE CAN'T  :*(

  • I had about two weeks straight of sleeping less than two hours a night with migraines and major swelling to boot with having GD.  My doctor prescribed me some sort of muscle relaxer (ok during pregnancy) which I take before bed.  Ever since then, I've slept eight hours a night.  Seriously saved my sanity...

  • I haven't had a solid night's sleep since September.  I have a bad shoulder that's gotten worse during pregnancy (I blame the boobs), and I'm getting up a few times in the night to pee.  Plus I'm not sleeping heavily at all, so I'm awake at every noise.  Some nights I don't get enough to even be marginally functional, and DH has to make me take a nap.

  • I sleep about 10 hours a night! I am just soo tired. I do wake up to pee and roll over many times, but I fall right back asleep. I keep waiting for these sleepless nights to arrive, but so far I have been lucky (knock on wood!)
  • Up until last night, sleep has been extremely difficult.  It's hard for me to sleep on either side because it hurts both my hips and back, so I'll try a modified back position where I'm sort of propped up on one side with my body pillow so that I'm not flat on my back.  It isn't easy, and it isn't comfortable.  However, that changed last night because my dad bought us a brand new king sized memory foam mattress set for Christmas.  It was delivered yesterday, and last night, I was actually able to sleep on my side the entire night.  Finally some decent sleep.  I guess it was my crappy bed all along.

  • I haven't been sleeping well since about 32 weeks. I have lots of hip & pelvic pain so it's really hard to get comfortable. Not to mention that I wake up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom.

  • I have also been sleeping like crap since 36 weeks. I toss and turn all night and get up to pee at least 5 times. My hands go numb and I just can't get comfortable. Then my mind starts racing and I can't fall back asleep. It really sucks!

  • I'd be sleeping fine if it wasn't for my 2.5yo having some serious sleep regression going on for some reason.

I wake up to go to the bathroom every hour or so, and/or to just roll over. and if I wake up in the hour of 3am then I usually can't fall back asleep for at least an hour.

but all of that can be handled, and if that's all (meaning my son sleeps through) then I feel like I got a good night's sleep.

but something about him waking up and calling for me (even if DH answers the call) just zaps me for the next day. Sad

  • Up every hour or so due to either hip pain, needing to pee, or indigestion... One day...far from now... maybe a full night. hmmmmm

  • I haven't slept a solid night since month #4: up too much at night for pee breaks, etc.  But this past week (wk #38) is even worse: leg pains, hip pains, back pains, and sharp braxton-hicks out of nowhere on top of the up 4-5 times to pee.  Not to mention crazy pregnant lady dreams.  The last two nights I've hardly slept at all making me wish even more that this kid better come quick!

I mentioned that I've gotten less sleep lately to a woman yesterday afternoon and she laughed at me asking if I really ever expected to sleep a full night again.  That may be true, but I HATE HATE HATE it when people say stuff like this!

  • I haven't slept well for the past two monthsish. I am 37 weeks and pretty miserable so finding a comfy position is impossible, not to mention the marathon peeing. I'm not really anxious, so that's not really keeping me up. It's just the physical stuff.

  • I've honestly been sleeping pretty well. Asleep by 8:30ish (yes, I am an old lady) and up at 5ish with my alarm. No potty breaks and not too many position changes.

I full expect for this to change soon, though.

  • I wake up with really bad hip pain almost every night, plus pretty good BH contractions some nights as well. And to top it off I have been sick this week so bedtime is not something I look forward to.
