Babies: 6 - 9 Months

night feeding

Hi all,

Baby is 8 months now and is a great napper and a great sleeper but still wakes at least once or twice a night to eat.

She should have enough to get her throught the night and since my son used to take a paci it was very easy to wean him from the night bottle.

Lucy does not take a pacifier, any suggestions, just let her cry it out? feed her less every night until she weans herself??

Help please

Re: night feeding

  • Are you BFing or FFing? If you are BFing then you can try to wean her by minimizing the time by 5 minutes every few days.if you are FFing, you can reduce the bottles by 1/2 ounce every few days. Do this until you get down to 5 min BF or 3 oz FF and then cease altogether. She will eventually just eat more throughout the day. GL!

  • Same boat here.....J definitley has a night feeding "habit". Luckily he STTN 75% of the time but the other 25% he wakes up between 1-3am and demands a bottle. The paci just makes him cry louder. We have only been giving him 2oz at night for the past two weeks but it's not getting better. Last night I gave him the  2oz and he started crying for more. I got him out of bed and started pointing out some stuffed animals on his shelf and poof - he stopped crying because he was distracted. This is how I know its a habit and not hunger. Not sure where we'll go from here, I'm hoping he'll just grow out of it.
