I was at a baby shower this past weekend, and several of the woman had personally met "Lemonjello and Orangejello" another woman had a "Sh!thead" in her classroom. I wanted to yell out "YOU LIE!!!" Instead I smiled and laughed with them.
Have you ever called someone out on this BS in real life? Or do we just save that for the internet?
Re: Name myths... do you point out liars?
I was in a work meeting with one of my employees and a vendor we were meeting for the first time and both of them started sharing name stories. I called them both out because I seriously couldn't take it.
If my next pregnancy gives me twins I'm going to name them Lemonjello and Orangejello if they are boys and if girls: La-a and Sh!thead... just so these UL's are true! muah hahahaha!
(ok, not really, I would only consider La-a as a mn) hehehe
I try to do it nicely by saying "I'm pretty sure those started as jokes." If it's fellow teachers who I know have legitimately seen some ridiculous names, I might add "But maybe there's some idiot out there who heard the La-a one and thought that was a good idea."
I'm not a teacher but this is what I do.

My husband works at a children's gymnastic place and they do have students enrolled named Lemonjello and Orangejello. We live in Stockton, it's kind of common out here. But the first day of class for those kids the coach called out for Lemon Jello and Orange Jello. The mom was pissed that someone mispronounced the kids names.
The Sh!thead, I think is a myth/lie but who am I to say.

I would advise against standing up at a baby shower and shouting YOU LIE! But that would be hella fun to do!
I do die inside when someone passes that joke along though. I do try to work in something about it being an urban legend.
