Cloth Diapering

Cloth Wipes?

I've been CD'ing my daughter for about 2 months now but we've still been using disposable wipes. I'm just curious how cloth wipes work.

1) Can you keep a bunch pre-moistened or do you have to moisten them as they are used.

2) if you can pre-moisten them where do you store them?

3) Do to have to do any extra cleaning when using on a poopy bum (rinse them before throwing in wetbag/pail)? We use bioliners so we don't really have to deal with too much poop in the diapers and I'd prefer to keep it that way and not have to do extra work if it is on the cloth wipes.

  • 1. You can keep them pre-moistened or wet as you go, whichever works for you.

    2. The most common places to store them wet would be a wipes holder; either a disposable wipes case or a wipes warmer.

    3. Before 6 months of age, diapers and wipes can go straight into the wash. After solids are started, wipes should be sprayed/dunked off when they are really messy.

I have a video  on cloth wipes, if you're interested.

    2. I use a wipes warmer

    3. I never do

  • I keep mine wet in a wipes warmer.  I bought the solution cubes and add 3 DROPS of tea tree oil to keep off mildew and mold, but I go through them so fast I don't think it would be an issue if I didn't use it.   It was nice when she was a newborn and I could change her with the warm wipe and not wake her up.

  • 1. When he was a newborn, I pre-moistened them, because he was pooping so much that I would go through my entire wipes stash in 2-3 days. Now, he poops less frequently, so I usually just moisten a few at a time, to prevent mildew.

    2. I put them in a disposable wipes container.

    3. I don't do any extra cleaning. If it's a really messy poop, I'll usually wipe it first with the front (clean part) of the diaper, and then deal with it in the same way that I deal with the rest of the poop -- so, in your case, you'd wipe the worst of it onto part of the bioliner, then dispose of it with the liner as usual.
