They are made in China and contain the Melamine that childrens deaths were related to recently.  !!!!!!! Yep I got this as a forward last week.

I was never able to open those candy coins anyway and ended up throwing what little he had gotten (one or two) out last year.

Important note in the Snopes article: these were only sold in Canada and none of the tainted coins reached the US. Not saying I would risk it, but it is important to note. It appears the version of the email you got is different from the original which specifies Canada.
