Can someone explain Bishop Scores

This hasn't been brought up by my OB yet and I'm in my 39th week.  It was mentioned that I should watch this on the I-Can board I'm a member of.

No recall what they are, when they are done, why they are done, etc.

They explain it better than I could, but basically it is a calculation that takes several pre-labor factors (cervix condition, baby station, etc) and gives a score than indicates how favorable you are for induction.

With my first, I had a very unfavorable Bishop's score and was induced anyway, no surprise that it ended in a c-section.

I hadn't heard of it but I calculated mine from baby #1.  I had an extremely low score 1-2.  Was induced at 41 weeks (many high risk factors) and had the easiest best induction and delivery ever!  Start to finish 8+ hours and minimal pain (yes, I had an epidural).
