Pulling Up/Sleep Question

Two days ago, DS learned to pull up.  And, as can be expected, he is doing it ALL-THE-TIME.  Including overnight.  He was excellent at putting himself back to sleep if he woke overnight (normally sleeps from 7pm to 4am, eats, and goes back until 6:30/7).  Last night he woke up twice, and pulled up....therefore needing to be nursed back to sleep.  We tried laying him down, but he just kept standing up again!

He also has an ear infection, so is on antibiotics which have caused some poop issues and a terrible diaper rash.  Though I think the sleep issue last night was 100% standing up and not being able to get back down.  So my question for those who've experienced this already.  How long does it take for LO to learn how to get back down from standing?  I'm not looking forward to this sleep regression or retraining once its over.

Re: Pulling Up/Sleep Question

  • my DS always works on his milestones during the night and it creates such sleep chaos, but then it dissappears until the next new thing comes along

  • DS just started doing this too. I have no good advice except this too will pass - I hope :)
  • DD has been pulling up for about a few weeks now and has already learned to sit back down from standing. She doesn't usually get back down from standing when she's in her crib because she wants to get out so she just yells at me until I get her out (her crib is in our room) but it only took about a week for her to learn to sit (or plop) down. Just be careful when they are starting to learn this they fall back a lot. We learned this the hard way. Make sure there is padding (pillow, etc) behind them.
