I can't quite make up my mind if I love it or not.
Our shortlist so far is:
Amelia, Aurelia, Daisy, Jane, Hermione.
I think I want to add Poppy into the mix, but wonder if it's a bit "hard" sounding or a bit "hippy" sounding.
So what say you Baby Names board? Yay or nay?

I think it's super cute. But, as a 30-year-old woman, I'm trying to imagine what it would be like if my name was Poppy. I'm not sure I would like it (and I tend to like more unusual, even hippy-ish sounding names). Do you like Penelope, as others suggested? Poppy would be great as a nickname, but then she could put Penelope on her resume or choose to go by Penelope later in life in professional settings, if she wants. But obviously this is not going to work if you don't like Penelope!!
I know it's well-liked on this board, but I personally cannot stand it. I just can't help thinking of it as a name people call their grandfathers (and the guy on Seinfeld who had the peeing problem).
I have to learn how to tolerate though as it's my niece's nickname (real name is Peyton, but they've called her Poppy since they found out my SIL was pregnant since "Poppy" was the size of a poppy seed when they found out.) As much as I can't stand the name Peyton, I will NEVER call her Poppy.
I live on a dairy farm. Every dairy farmer has a cow named Poppy.
It's also way too nicknamey for me.
It's one name I don't think ages well either and I say that about very few names.
Exactly.
I could totally see myself using it as a middle name though.
I think Poppy is cute for a baby or girl. Not sure for when she is a grown woman.
I love it but my dad goes by Papi so we had to rule it out.
I would think, being in NZ, it would be more 'mainstream' so to speak than in the US, ie it will age better. I know in the UK it is more common than it is in the US (as is Daisy) so it won't be weird in 30 years to have adult women named Poppy.
Love it.
