Pigeon Toed...

So I've been "walking" with my DD lately (I.E. holding her hands and walk with her in-between my legs) and I've noticed that when she 'walks' she's quite pigeon toed. My mother, who is in town, was watching DD yesterday and she mentioned it as well, I had noticed it but didn't think it was that big of a deal, I figured it was something that would correct itself when she began to properly walk....but now that someone else has mentioned it I'm beginning to get a little worried. My mother was extremely pigeon toed when she was younger and required braces to correct the issue. Is it genetic?

We have her 9-Month Wellness appointment next month so I'll be asking her pedi about it but....is your LO pigeon toed as well? If so, what has your pedi said and how are you dealing with the situation?

Re: Pigeon Toed...

  • My MIL, both SIL's, step daughter and my DH are all pigeon toed. For the most part it doesn't bother me, one of my SIL which she waddles because it's that bad (don't mean it meanly)

Don't quote me but I am certain it is not genetic. I was under the impression that it happens in utero when there isn't much space for baby.

Talk to your pedi about it thats the best thing. It doesn't bother me so much but I think if my LO had it depending on how bad it is I would consider the braces to correct it. Don't suppose I can decide that unless my LO does have the same issues....
