I think my kid is starting to go BSC. Every day for the past few weeks she wakes up from her afternoon nap crying like she got bit by a snake. Full on freak out mode - crying so hard she's gagging. All the cuddles, shushing, dancing, singing, distractions in the world will not make her stop. This goes on for about 20 mins and then she randomly decides to act like a normal person again and goes and plays with her toys.
She needs this nap. She has all the classic sleepy signs. I've tried moving it up and pushing it back and the outcome is the same. If we cut it out completely she is a hot mess by 5pm. She wakes/gets my attention normally for her other two naps.
Advice?
Re: Waking Up Crazy
Yea, I'm sure a big part of it is that she's still tired. The naps are only 45-60 minutes. She usually sleeps 90 mins to 2 hours.
I've tried putting her back to sleep, but when she's gagging like that it's impossible. If I do manage to calm her, she freaks if I even head towards the crib and she tries to jump out of my arms. We've done regular CIO before, but this isn't her usual "I'm not going to bed and you can't make me" crying. If I didn't know better, I'd think she was injured with the way she gets herself worked up.
I have a list of things to ask the pedi about in January, but I'm not sure I'll be able to with how poorly the last well visit went (the hysterics started when we walked into the exam room and lasted until we were halfway home).
