I want to spend the last days of this pregnancy snuggled up on my sofa and reading in blissful silence, so I'd love to hear some good book recommendations. I'm open to any and all subject matter as long as the book is well written and engaging.
And just so I also participate:
I've yet to meet someone who didn't like The Help.
The Sex Lives of Cannibals- A young man, tired of the 9-5 grind, is looking for an island paradise and finds something else entirely. It's a funny story.
The Beach- Leonardo DiCaprio starred in the movie version. The book is way better.
Middlesex- Really enjoyed this book. It traces a family through generations.
The Madonnas of Leningrad- Soviet Russia and Alzheimer disease. Wonderfully written, if a little depressing.
Bossy Pants- Because everyone loves Tina Fey.
Re: Read Any Good Books Lately?
I just finished How To Be An Americian Housewife last night. It was pretty good.
Water for Elephants was really good too.

Books read in 2013: ~ Audiobooks listened to in 2013: 3
Currently reading: The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon
Currently listening to: The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
my currently-reading shelf:
Yes, Water for Elephants was good. I'll sample How to be an American Housewife (I love my kindle... )
Goodreads- I have an account that I haven't updated in such a long time. It's really a great website that I should use more often.
I've been reading the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. They're good suspense novels.
Anything by Jennifer Weiner is great. Her book, Little Earthquakes, is about a group of pregnant women. It's really good.
Flat Out Love is on Amazon for like 3 dollars and it's a great book--funny and engaging.
If you like Bossypants, you'll love Mindy Kaling's book Is Everyone Hanging out Without Me.
The Hunger Games trilogy is A-MA-ZING if you're into dystopian fiction.
Love the Harry Potter series--always good for a re-read
I also really like Water for Elephants and The Help.
The Magicians is good if you're a fantasy fan...a much darker, less optimistic Harry Potter.
Anything by Jodi Picoult is like doritos for the mind...they won't win any Pulitzers or anything, but they're quick reads and very engaging.
I, too, plan on spending these last few weeks enjoying the solitude of pre-baby life--enjoy!
The Game of thrones series, by George R.R. Martin. *fantasy*
Good plots, lots of charactures, kind of like a huge world wide chess game that keeps you reading. Loved it. It does have violence, some graphic decriptions and lots of people die. Set in kind of a middle ages world.
Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy was really funny. I read it in one night.
Right now I'm reading The Last Juror by John Grisham. I like it so far.
I agree with reading the Hunger Games. I tore through those books like it was nobody's business.
Recently I've been reading The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series. So far I've read three books. They are easy reads and I'm enjoying them.
