I had my first u/s on Monday at what I thought was 8 weeks based on my LMP. Per the u/s, the doc thought I was earlier--likely 5 weeks. He could see the yolk sac, but no fetus yet. At my ob she had me do a blood test and then I went back yesterday for a second to compare my HCG levels. She just called and they increased from 18,180 on Monday to 20,686 on Wednesday. She said they didn't increase as much as they would have liked, but that it didn't necessarily mean anything bad since everyone's levels are slightly different. She said she was "cautiously optimistic". I have a followup u/s on Tuesday to confirm one way or the other.
I should mention that with my first baby, now 3, I also thought I was farther along and they inititally told me I had a blighted ovum, but really, I was just 3 weeks earlier than I had expected. And she turned out fine. BUT, my HCG levels were more normal.
Has anyone experienced this? Any chance this pregnancy will stick? Does it matter if I took the first blood test at the end of the day on Monday and the 2nd first thing in the morning on Wednesday? I want to be optimistic, but the waiting is hard!
Re: HCG Levels not doubling
BFP#1 10 wk missed mc
BFP#2 DS born at 40+2 on 8/14/12 BFP#3 DD Born at 39+3 on 5/13/14
Didnt want that to worry you just wanted to share my experience. This could mean nothing for you.. and read your post again, taking it earlier in the day could explain why the numbers didnt double too. Just hold on to hope I will cross my fingers for you!!
Once you hit 6000, it can take over 4 days to double.
With my DD, I had betas of 10000, 15000 and 20000 (ish), each of them were about 3 days apart. It freaked me out too but she is now over 2 years old.
This.
