Babies: 6 - 9 Months

anyone have an early riser?

My lo is up every morning at 5 on the nose! Anyone else?

Re: anyone have an early riser?

  • What time is LO going to bed?  If DD ever wakes up this early, I go in and pretend or act as though she is waking up in the middle of the night.  Paci, pat on the back, and out.  Start doing this. If it doesn't work, wait to get LO from crib.  If DD wakes even at 6, she doesn't get a mommy visit until 6:30... Unless she is crying and then paci, back pat, and out.

  • Hannah usually gets up between 4:30 and 5. I feed her and she goes back down until 7.

  • My LO is usually up between 5 and 6:30am.  Most commonly around 5:30am.  I can tell if he's up because he's hungry (whines and kind of cries) or if he's up for the day (smiling, laughing, and rolling around).  If it's the earlier, I feed him, and then bring him into our room and he sleeps another hour so in our room (no turning on the lights).  If it's the second case... there's no putting him back to sleep for another couple of hours and he's ready to play!

I'm glad he's a morning baby though, because both my DH and I are morning people, and if he was a night owl, we would be in trouble!  :)

  • DS wakes up anywhere between 5:30-7 a.m.
If he wakes up too early, I do try and put him back down but it doesn't always work.
  • Every morning between 5 and 7.  If she's up before 5, she usually works it out on her own and goes back to sleep.  This works great for us because we are up and getting ready for the day between 4 and 5 during the week.  I'd feel horrible if I were inturrupting her sleep to get her up and in the car at 630 every morning.

  • DS goes to bed at 8 pm and he's up between 5:30-6:30 every day.

During the week, it works out well since H and I are up at 6:00 am getting ready for work.

On the weekends we let him entertain himself until it's obvious that he's done and is ready to be out of the crib.

DS has been sleeping at least 8-9 hours through the night since he was 7 weeks old. He's never slept more than 10 hours at a time though. He probably won't do that until he's a teenager and waking up at the crack of noon. I can easily function on 5 hours of sleep and and I can force my way through the day on 4 hours... H needs at least 10 hours to even resemble a human. DS seems to take after me.

  • DD goes to bed at 7pm and is usually up between 530 and 6am. If she's happy and playing in her crib (or even just fussing a bit) I leave her. She was sleeping from 7pm-7am for months but for some reason in the past 2 weeks she's really been liking 5:30am...

  • Anywhere between 5 and 6:30 for mine. He usually has his first nap an hour after he wakes up though, so if I'm still exhausted, I can get some more sleep. Usually I just get up and stay up. I do tend to go to bed an hour or two after he does at 8 though.

  • DD gets up between seven and eight each morning (usually closer to 7).  If she's up before that I do a bottle and back to bed.

  • She starts waking up around 5:30--starting to get restless and tossing and turning. However, usually she falls back to sleep on her own until about 6:30 or 7.

But she goes to bed super early too--between 6 and 7pm.

  • My LO goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up anywhere between 5:30-7. There's no putting her back to bed when she wakes up :-( I'm jealous of you all that can give your LO a bottle and back to bed they go, even if it's just for an hour.
