So yesterday I was looking at my boobs after my shower and noticing how my nipples are getting darker, which I am aware is normal and I've gotten a few almost freckle-like darker spots on them. Then I noticed a new very dark freckle/mole/spot about a inch to inch and a half away from the darker area just on my general boob. Is that normal? I'll definitely still check with my OB at my appointment on Wednesday, but was wondering if anyone else developed something like this.
Note: MH had a mole removed from his ear last year and was told if he had let it go it would have become melanoma (sp?), I guess the cells were just starting to mutate. So I'm a little paranoid about this kind of stuff. TIA!
Re: dark spot on breast, but not nipple? normal?
I'll check with my OB at my appointment to see if this is something he normally or occasionally sees in his PG patients, but if he seems unsure, I'll definitely check with my regular doc to get it looked at. Maybe my OB would even be able to give me some advice, like don't have it removed until after I have LO or something. I was just wondering/hoping if anyone else was getting these and maybe I just hadn't heard it was par for the course. We experience so many weird symptoms in pregnancy I just wanted to see if I missed learning about that one. I dont' know... thanks, though!
I think skin changes like this are very normal during pregnancy, so I would not be overly concerned. I've noticed similar things. In fact, I just went to the derm (I have a history of skin cancer) for a skin check and she said nothing about them. Random darkening of skin, freckles, etc., can all be brought on by pregnancy. I would still asl your OB, though!
During the last months of my previous pregnancy I was getting little whiteheads, or I called them "milk bumps" because it looked like colostrum that had backed up in the pore. During that time, I developed two small, dark, mole-like circles around my areolas, similar to what your describing.
They never did go away, but I get a yearly breast exam by my OB and he didn't say anything was wrong with getting them.
