Does having a pg friend...

rekindle a friendship (now that you are a mom)? What has been your experience?

Re: Does having a pg friend...

  • Not really.  If they dropped me before they got KU they're probably a crappy situational friend anyway.

The exception is if said friend is having fertility issues or going through a lot in their lives, I'd cut them slack.  But if they just blanket think we have nothing in common because I have a kid? Hit bricks, b*tch.

  • I don't think so. But, I want to have more friends with children. So I try to reconnect with old friends that are having babies. (There is not many.) I don't think it could be the same relationship though. More of a once in a while play date/shopping friend than a lets go out for girls night friend.
  • I think it depends on the friendship. For example, I have been friends with S for 10 years but after I had kids we saw each other much less. We still chatted on the phone or on FB but hardly saw each other. She was into going out, and I was doing the SAHM thing.

Now that she is KU, our friendship is so much more. I think its because we have a lot more in common now. I really miss having girl friends to hang out with, so I am happy to hang out with her no matter what the reason.

This. I have an old friend who basically dropped off of the planet when I had a baby. She is pregnant now and emailing me all the time. I think she wants to rekindle our friendship, now that she can relate to being a mom.

  • I haven't noticed a difference. I only have 4 close friends that don't have kids. I feel just as close to them now as I did before. Actually I like talking to them on the phone more because there aren't screaming children in the background and constant stops for "Yes Colin you can have a strawberry, no don't eat it off the floor, stop pulling your sister's hair..." Seriously the insanity!
