VBAC

Anyone have a vaginal birth then csection and now trying for a vbac?

Anyone?   Lol.  This is baby #4 birth #3.  I'm hoping for a vbac and dr. is very hopeful.   I had a very fast and easy l&d with my son.  I was induced at 38wks and was 4cm 100%effaced when we checked into the hospital.  No contractions.  Started cervidil (sp)and 3 hrs later I was 5cm no contractions so my dr broke my water.  Contractions started immediately, not painful but got my epi so I could get some sleep.  I went in at midnight.  It was 4:00 am when water was broke.  At 4:15 after epi was done dr checked and I was complete!!  I started pushing at 4:30 an 11 mins later I was holding my baby.  So about 41 mins of active labor.  We are hoping for another fast/easy/painless delivery.  Just wondering if anyone's vbac went smoothly after a rather easy 1st time vag. delivery. I think I'm afraid of my body not remembering what to do.   That and I'm worried I won't progress on my own for some reason and end up with a csection.

  • My first was a vaginal delivery, but it didn't go as smoothly as yours. I ended up pushing for almost 5 hours before he was born. With my second I stalled at 8 cm after 40 hours of labor and ended up having a c/s. I'm hoping to VBAC this time, but I still have to get approval from the one doctor in town that has to be available. It sounds like you are a perfect candidate for VBAC. What a wonderful first delivery!

  • I haven't had my vbac yet but my midwife says I'm an excellent candidate.  I had my first DD in 2004 vaginally.  She was a very quick delivery, 4 hours of active labour and pushing through 3 contractions.

DD2 was a c/s because of a couple reasons; I was induced the morning before she was born with prostaglandin gel.  I fell into the small percent of women who experience complications with the gel and had a uterine constriction ring.  The ring was the initial cause of the c/s but was later discovered that DD2 had craniosynostosis and most likely wouldn't have been born vaginally anyhow.  Both of those complications were complete flukes and are unlikely to reoccur (I refuse to be induced again).

So, baby 3 will be a vbac if he/she makes it here before 42 weeks, otherwise they will be a repeat c/s.
