Before my LO turned 4 months she would STTN with no problem. Ever since she started teething it's been a rough ride. 3 nights ago it was so bad that she would wake up every hour crying, not to mention I've been sick for 2 months and my husband was sick last week. We needed sleep so bad and I've been trying so many different things. I even started letting her fall asleep on me and I would then fall asleep holding her on the couch, which is a huge no-no in our house. I would be so desperate for sleep that I'd let her sleep next to me in my bed after my husband left for work which is something I said I would never do. Co-sleeping is not how I wanted to fix this mess.
The past 2 nights I've got her to sleep pretty much TTN! Here is what I found works for my baby (but might not necessarily work for yours, but I hope it helps some of you!):
1. We like it cold while we sleep and we like to bundle up in the comforter. LO only sleeps in her pj's and sleep sac so we've adjusted her room temp to range from 66-68 degrees. This has helped her sleeping a lot.
2. The homedics spa sound and projector. I don't know why I ever stopped using this. I turn it on ocean sounds, to a fairly loud volume to fill her room. I find that this blocks out any other noises outside of her room like us sniffling, walking/moving, typing on computer, etc. This is probably the most helpful.
3. The projector gives her a little bit more light so she isn't in the dark and when she wakes up it's something for her to look at.
4. This is something that some will have a problem with and I definitely do not recommend it for all babies. I have a very soft blanket that isn't much thicker than a sheet and doesn't have a huge pile to it. I wrap that around her mattress for her to lay on something soft feeling. I wouldn't recommend using a squishy or furry blanket, this is more like a thin microfiber I guess. My MIL suggested this, this is what she does at her house when she watches LO and it seems to help.
The night before she slept from 7-2 then had a quick bottle then I let her fall asleep in her FP infant rocker next to my bed and we slept until 8am.
Last night she slept from 7:30-5 and we are going to have a bottle now and I will probably let her sleep in her rocker next to the bed until she wakes up again.
So far it's worked!
