buying a 2nd pump for work..

I'm looking into buying a cheap(er) double electric pump to take to work, or just have at work.  I am so worried I'll forget something either at home, or leave something at work (35 min. away).  Who has a double electric pump that wasn't very expensive, that would be good to use about 5 or 6 times/week?

I have an extra set of pump parts at work and I leave my charger there (I don't need it at home obviously). If you really wanted why don't you just look for a heap manual? I think target had one for $25 this week.

You should look on craigslist for a used closed system pump like the ameda purely yours. Around here they can usually be found for under $50. You would just need to purchase the horns, bottles, tubing, etc.

I would actually take the "better" pump to work since you'd be doing more pumping there, right?  And leave the cheaper pump at home since you'll probably nurse more at home?

I have the avent duo electric, it was about $140 from walmart. I'm an EP, and I absolutely love this pump.

 This is what I plan to do when I go back to work (FT) next month.  Medela PISA will stay at work and I'm planning to buy an Ameda purely yours for home use from Amazon - best price I've found.

I have two pumps and it works out great. I have a Medela PISA that I keep at work since I'm stuck in a small Mother's Room, and the Medela Freestyle that I keep at home so I can do stuff around the house while pumping (also have a hands-free bra). I am in the office 2x/week and working from home 2x/week, so having 2 pumps is helpful for me.

With that said, my second pump was a gift. Would I have bought a second one on my own?....probably not. You can make it work with one, but having a second is a nice convenience!

I have 2 pumps, one I leave at work and one I leave set up at home (I pump before AM feeding and before bed since LO only eats on 1 side to maintain supply on advice of a lactation consultant). One was free through my insurance, the other I got by returning stuff to BuyBuyBaby and ended up costing ~$50.

For me, its so worth it to have both. Pumping is enough of a pain, carrying the pump back and forth would be even more painful. I also have enough parts to get me through the day (2 for the AM, 1 for work that I use both times...pump one side/session, 2 for night) so we only run the dishwasher once.

Try to think through how you envision using your pump and how it might affect your day to have one vs. two. It may or may not make sense if you aren't going to pump at home. I wouldn't have an extra one to keep at work "just in case" but if you weren't plannign to pump at home, you could keep a manual one there in case you really needed it. Also, you can always buy another one or return an unopened one if you want to keep it in the house until you are sure. AmazonMom = next day delivery or 365 days to return items.

I bought a Lansinoh as an extra pump with DD1 and used my medela at home.  With  DD2 so far I have the medela downstairs and Lansinoh upstairs...after using them "side by side" for 2 weeks now I will say that I actually prefer the Lansinoh wich is WAY cheaper than the medela and is the a the ameda but purple and much cheaper.  i'd highly recommend it and am actually considering keeping my eye out for a sale and replacing the medela with it.
