Cramps only while walking a few minutes

I'm planning on calling my doctor in the morning to be on the safe side, but just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I absolutely cannot walk more than a half an hour without starting to feel period-like cramps. I've been Christmas shopping a couple times this week and just walking around the mall I would be pretty uncomfortable; enough to the point where I would call the shopping trip quits early. It's just now started feeling like this lately and I'm 18 weeks. I have no bleeding whatsoever and haven't called my doctor yet because he said as long as there was no blood don't worry. But, I'm getting farther along now and it's concerning me, so I'm calling him anyway. I've been reading about this and a lot of women are saying it's just the way the baby is resting on your cervix. But, if that were the case, then why does it only happen while I'm walking? After I sit down and rest a while, it goes away. Is this a normal pregnancy thing?

Re: Cramps only while walking a few minutes

  • Saw your post and this just started happening to me yesterday! I had some cramping in my very lower part of my abdomen and got concerned that I might have hurt something lifting a Christmas box that was too heavy and shouldn't have.  Then on my walk this morning it was really painful-especially uphill!  I told my DH I was planning to call the doctor too.  I don't want to be the crazy lady calling for gas pain but not I am a little concerned!  Hope all turns out well for you.

  • this happened to me in my first trimester.  I was really concerned because I walk a lot, so I asked my doctor about it.  He said it was totally normal to feel cramping when walking and when exercising because things were moving around and stretching, and I only needed to worry if they were severe or if I had any bleeding.

  • This happens to me every time I walk a lot. The doctor told me to drink more water as this will help a lot with the cramps.
