realize posting about Ferber polarizes people, and this really is not to start anything else up or to debate. I just want to share a positive story for those that may be interested in sleep training.
The first four nights were HARD. The worst was 55 minutes, obviously with us checking frequently.
Then, last night-the fifth night only three. Tonight-NONE!! We may have to drop back and punt during teething, when he learns to stand, ect. But I know that I have a plan that has worked in the past and will likely work again.
I was terrified it wouldn't work, but I followed a plan and it did. DS was SO well rested this morning and I look forward to another great day tomorrow. I feel well rested and confident that this was what was best in our situation.
Thanks for all that provided me with support. For those that don't agree? That's fine, too. Let's always remember that being a mom is a hard job and I feel that everyone here wants what is best for their LO!
Re: butting in again. F/u to need ferber pep talk!
I totally see your point. We promised we would do 2 weeks-LO is super stubborn. If it didn't work, we would wait until later.
Happy it worked for you. One piece of unasked for advice? STICK with it as much as you can. It worked for us too, and then DD got sick twice back to back, so we started holding to sleep, and then kept saying we were going to start again... Well its been a tiny bit rough going. DD can sit and stand in her crib now, and she has a bit of seperation anxiety combined with teething, so Mama... STICK with it!!!
Lately she is falling asleep while having her bottle and we put her down once she is done without holding her for a bit. She wakes 30ish minutes later and it is BAD. But, last night I gave in, held her for 5 mins. She was still awake but I let her know mommy was there. Put her down again and she went to bed. This baby sleeping thing is hard.
WAY TO GO!!!
