DD has no problem falling asleep, but wakes up several times a night for the pacifier. We keep at least 3 in her crib but she can't seem to find them when she wakes up in the middle of the night. We have tried to just let her cry, but she gets herself so worked up that she can not settle back down. If we run to put the paci in she is back to sleep in 1 second. what would you do? DH and I both work.
Re: wwyd pacifier related
I don't really have any advice.. My LO had been going through this & I sat at least 2 pacifiers in front of his face (which didn't really do much - he gets so mad that he won't put it in his mouth). If I put it back in his mouth, he was right back to sleep... This phase will pass.
My LO passed through that phase (I used to take his pacifier out when he was in a dead sleep so it wouldn't fall out - but now he is to where that wakes him!!). I now just put him in the bed and when the pacifier falls out, he doesn't wake up. Good luck and sorry I have no advice
We had the exact same issue with one of our twins about 5 weeks ago. It was awful. She was waking up to 6 times per night wanting her soother. We'd put it in her mouth and she'd be back to sleep for a bit and then it would start all over again.
We moved the other twin out for a few nights and had to let her cry. I slept in the guest room, next to their room. I checked on her once during that first night, but did not give her the soother. It was awful but it only took 2 nights. Now she's back to sttn.
We had this issue. My only advice is to put them where LO typically rolls to. For example, DD started being able to find them herself until she started to sit up. Then she started to cry again, so I started putting one where she would end up. This worked like a charm. These days she somehow "travels" with it. She also knows when one is under her how to get it.
Just remember... this too shall pass... and then it is something else. (and I know how you feel... DH and I work too)
I know it's not going to be a popular opinion, but when DS started doing this, that's when we stopped using the pacifier. He only used it to sleep anyway, and after the first night, he was fine. It's been a month a half and he hasn't used a pacifier since. Still the happy content baby he was with the pacifier and sleeps through the night without waking up because he doesn't have the paci.
My one disclaimer is that he has not teethed yet, so if your LO is teething, I don't know if now is the right time for this. Maybe after LO is done teething for a while.
