So we got our moving date

We will get the keys to our new house Feb 7...

Any tips on moving with a newborn anywhere from a couple days old to a couple weeks old??? Or being almost 42w pregnant?

Wish we could get our house sooner, but I don't see housing budging on that one....

Re: So we got our moving date

  • Sounds hard. Any chance you can get a hotel or go stay with a friend for a day or two while they move everything and get it settled? Good luck!

  • I wasn't pregnant the last time we moved, but the best thing we EVER did was hire movers.  Seriously, save yourself a headache and hire movers.  All we had to do was pack our boxes, label them, and then tell the movers where we wanted our furniture and where each room was.  It was totally worth every single penny!!!

  • We will probably end up getting moved by movers. Thankfully since we don't have a choice in the move-- we live in military housing and are moving literally like 1.5 miles down the road to newer houses so they can tear these down-- we won't have to pay for them to move us... And we should get a check for 600 on top of that. MH wants us to move ourselves though cuz we will get the 600 plus more for moving ourselves. But if they move us they come in and pack everything for us too... All we gotta do is unpack. Hopefully MH will agree to this!

  • If they're going to pack you up and move you let them!  This is one time where even my frugal a** wouldn't budge.  I helped friends move w/ a 4 month old.  It wasn't easy, but it wasn't that hard either, it just took forever to pack because one of us had to deal w/ the baby while the others packed boxes and loaded the truck.

  • And I just remembered a previous post of yours about your Hubby having 3 weeks of training either before or after LO arrives--even MORE reason in my book to just let them move you.  Sometimes the hassle isn't worth the money you'd save doing it yourself.  This is one of those times.

  • I agree with PP, let them move you!

We moved into our new house 3 weeks ago and decided to pack everything up and lug it back and forth ourselves. It was HORRIBLE.

If you have an outside baby, or still an inside baby, let them do all the work for you!

  • Ugh, that sounds awful :( And wasn't your DH the one that was going to be gone like all of January or immediately after giving birth for a class/training?

    You poor thing :(

Yes, I am.... Depending on when the course starts, he will either be starting his class soon or already at it. They wouldn't switch him to the January one. I already told him that if he is gone they are for sure moving us.
