My DD is 6 weeks old (wow time flys) and has been dx with a milk and soy allergy. She had blood in her stool which has resolved but its is still very mucusy, my older DD had it as well. Does anyone elses baby have mucusy stools? do you know why?
Usually a sign of teething but at 6 weeks, I'm sure that isn't the case. My nephew also had a milk allergy. Once he was off dairy, the blood in his stool cleared up but it did remain mucusy for a while after due to his intestinal track still being irritated. I would confirm with your doctor to be sure it isn't a sign of another intestinal issue though.
I would call the doc. but don't worry too much. DS has had mucus in his stools from time to time for a few days here or there. Its probably just something you ate affecting him strangely. Their little tummies are so sensitive sometimes!

Yeah, the GI knows about it, we(the pedi, gi, lactation and myself) are not sure what the cause is. Just wanted to see if anyone else wasin the same boat. I have been off dairy and soy for a month with no change, maybe an increasein the mucus. With my first I was off dairy for 6mo and still had mucus.
DD has mucousy stools, too. She has had them since about 4 weeks. She has MSPI. I am only eating chicken, rice and oatmeal and it is still not better. She still has mucousy stools every day so at this point I can't really cut much else out. Although her eczema and rashes are gone since I've cut everything out of my diet.
I don't know what causes this but it could be your LO is still having a small reaction to something else - or it may just take sometime to clear up.
