Sudden eyesight change - Trying not to freak out...

Before I begin, I have already put in a call to my doc and am waiting to hear back. Right after eating lunch today I began experiencing a sudden partial blindness/blurriness, which has eased a tiny bit but not gone completely. To add to it I'm a little dizzy now, argh! Trying to be calm, but since I''ve never lost my eyesight before it's hard to not freak out.

Has anyone had this happen suddenly? Thanks in advance for responding

Yikes-- stop trying not to freak out and go to the ED! is there someone who can drive you? I had this happen before and it was just an ocular migraine, but you need to see a doctor.  If you hear back from your personal doc on the way and they reassure you, even better and it's easy to turn around, but it's better to be safe than sorry!

May/may not be the same thing, I've had optical migranes in the past (even at the beginning of the pregnancy) where I've lost vision in one eye.  I went to the ER because it hadn't gone away in like 2 days.  Could be something like that, or something more serious.  I'm glad you called your doc first.  Keep us updated!

Well, spoke to my doctors nurse who sent me down the street to have my BP checked, and although it seems very slightly elevated, they decided it is not a problem and that it must have been a ocular migraine? Something like that. Still though, I have had migraines a long time but NEVER had one act like that...

Having changes in my sight - black dots, or a visual aura - is my first clue that I have a migraine coming on. I've even had it where I had mis-firings in the parts of the brain that control speech, where it was almost like I had a stroke, and I knew what I wanted to say but couldn't get my mouth to make the movements. 

Both of those signs happen to me and my Dad, almost every single time we have migraines.  I have one probably once every 6 month or so. I always just pop some Tylenol, and go lay down somewhere quiet. It sucks, but it goes away eventually.
