Any of my other MOM's take Ambein?

My girls are 2 months old TODAY and I am still having trouble with insomnia.  Although I no longer really feel the aniexty that I used to, my Doctor says that is what is still keeping me up.

She has prescribed me 1/2 a tablet of Ambien, two to three nights a week.  I am scared to death of taking such a heavy sleeping med, worried that I won't hear my girls.

Anyone here have experience with Ambein?

  • i have taken it now and then - when i'm having a few nights with bad sleep and really need one good one.  I always let DH know that i'm taking it- so he can be extra alert.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I use lunesta sometimes (ambien ended up being too trippy for me).  I only use it when my husband is in town and will be able to wake up easily if need be.  I wouldn't use it you are on solo parent duty though.

  • not only have i taken it ive taken it pregnant.  i took it between weeks 11-18 bc i had bad pg insomnia.  low dose - 5mg pills that i broke in half.  doctor and MFM said it was totally fine.

ive also taken it sporadically throughout the past couple years.  it really helps me.  we have a toddler at home, but the lower dose doesnt interfer with me hearing the monitor or anything.  in fact, all it really does is make me fall asleep but i will wake up on my own like 3 hours later.

  •  I only took it briefly while I was pregnant and on hospital bed rest.  I didn't find the 5 mg dose to be very effective (I would still toss and turn and have to get up every 2 hours to pee!) and didn't really want to take 10 mg either.  However, I didn't notice any adverse side effects.

  • when not pregnant i take ambien often.  i have sleep issues.  i took CR which is controlled release so it sort of keeps u asleep, however NOTHING kept me from not hearing my daughter if there was a problem.  mother's instincts i guess but once i did hear her and tend to her, i was able to fall back asleep much faster with the drugs in my body....

try it one night and see how it goes ..guaranteed u will like it and still hear your girls!
