PSA: Swollen Ankles

Hi!

So yesterday I was at the Dr and I whined about having ugly swollen ankles. She told me to get them to go down I should lie on my side. She said putting my feet up won't help at all because of something or other...I have problems focusing when people talk to me (which is why I ALWAYS bring my DH with me!) so I don't remember her reasoning for it. Anyway mine aren't swollen enough to be uncomfortable or anything, they're just ugly so I don't know if this helps people who have actual problems, but I thought it might help someone somewhere and also thought it was weird that I had never heard it before. I always sleep on my side and I forgot to check them this morning when I got up so I don't know if it actually works but I figured I'd let everyone know.

  • I think that sleeping on your left side helps the swelling go down. I can't exactly remember why but this has helped me. I'm almost 37 weeks and have had very little swelling.

  • Another helpful thing... for those whose ankles/feet are swelling to the point of being painful... try "Deep Cold". It's this blue gel that is applied topically. It feels sooooo good, and a few hours after I put it on my feet are "much less hobbit like" (quoting my husband there) than they were before. And yes, my Dr. has okayed it! :-)
