not sure how helpful my response will be but I'll add my $.02 anyway
dh took dds to the muppets. He said they had an ok time. Laughed at some points, seemed bored at others.
in comparision, dds have loved both older Chipmunk movies (we own them). They have not seen the new one yet. It was not out at the time dh took them to see the Muppets, otherwise he would have gone to the chipmunk movie hands down
Muppets!! I refuse to torture myself w/ the Chipmunks. I don't care how much DD loves them. We'll rent it for $3 or see it on Netflix. I LOVED the new Muppet movie! DD liked it too.
I suffered thru the chipmunks yesterday. It was definitely the worst of the three. However, my daughter loved it. She saw Muppets a couple weeks ago with my husband and he said she was "eh" about it.
The Muppets was a fabulous movie...if you're an adult who remembers them and wants a nice stroll down memory lane.
It did not have enough kid humor in it to hold their attention. And my oldest is pretty good at sitting still and giving stories / movies a shot. About halfway through (or not even, probably), my 3 yo was asking to go home. And my 5 yo would have happily left, too.
I, on the other hand, ADORED the movie! I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I had seen it without kids. The fun parts were fun, but there were a lot of down parts.
Re: muppets movie or chipmunk movie?
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
I know. I do too. But, of course, my kids love the chipmunks.
I'm just worried that they won't love the muppets.

I'd opt for Chipmunks with kids.
OMG. Muppets. It's so wonderful.
I find it hard to believe anyone actually pays money to be annoyed by those Chipmunks.
