Pregnant after IF

Anyone with SCH experience...

So I discovered I had a sub chorionic hemmorage at 7 weeks, and im still spotting. The sch was about 2cmx3cm so my RE told me it wasnt small but moderate in size. Im still spotting and some days are worse than others. When does this go away? My first obgyn appt is Thursday and I cant wait to see if the sch has gotten smaller yet or not. Does anyone know if this is going to affect my baby? Im so worried.

Re: Anyone with SCH experience...

  • I had a SCH diagnosed at 6-7 weeks.  I started spotting at 9 weeks and have had a couple of pretty decent bleeding episodes, but babies are a-ok at every check.  I have had bleeding or spotting everyday for more than 3 weeks, but because everything looks good (and they don't even see a cause for the bleeding at this point as the SCH is no longer visible), I've been told to pretty much go on as if it's nothing.   It's a little disconcerting for sure, but I have an excellent medical team so I'm trusting them when they say it's ok :)

I hope it starts to resolve soon for you!

  • I have one too. I spotted at a little over 5 weeks, then bled pretty heavily one day last week, followed by a few days of spotting. My doctor said mine doubled in size, but I didn't think to ask what the actual measurement was. I go back to him on Friday and  will try to get more information. He did take me off of the baby aspirin and kept me on the progesterone. Some doctors precsribe bedrest but my doctor did not. I've had some freakouts; I'm not going to try to talk you off the ledge because I've been up there myself a  few times! The one thing I would suggest is not googling SCH; that did not help. What has helped is hearing from others on these boards who've had SCH and everything turned out okay.

  • I have one too.  It appears to be almost gone now.  I had bleeding and then it stopped bleeding again and then it basically continued as spotting and some bleeding for a few weeks.  For the past week, I have had barely noticeable spotting (knock on wood).  My doctor was monitoring me every week to make sure it wasn't growing and to give me some reassurance.  I know it is scary.  My doctor gave me some restrictions (which still aren't lifted yet).  No sex, no lifting and really take it easy.  Basically he said to keep walking etc down to a minimum.  No Christmas shopping he said.  He was willing to write a note to my employer to pull me out of work but I mostly sick at a desk so it was okay.  I hope it goes away soon for you.  It is more common then you think but I know it doesn't help you feel less nervous (or at least it didn't for me).  My doctor also told me whenever I got really nervous, I could call him and he would have me come in to check everything out.  Since I was going once a week already I tried to just stay strong to the next appointment.  I hope everything turns out okay for you.  And when in doubt, call your doctor, they are more understanding about pregnant women being scared then you think.  ((hugs))

  • I was diagnosed at 6w2d.  I was spotting on and off, then had a major bleeding episode with some clots and I went to the ER because I freaked out.  They checked me out, and I had a u/s earlier this week and saw both my heartbeats--relief!

My SCH started small and is now 4cm, which the doc said is pretty big.  He told me to take it easy--there's not anything they can do about it.  He also said no lifting pelvic rest, no power shopping, no marathon running and rest as much as possible. It will just take time to heal on its own.

It seems as if we all get the same message--try to take it easy, bed rest isn't necessary. I also got the 'try not to get worked up about it'.  It is a hard road, but I'll try not to freak out.  It sucks; I feel your pain!

  • Sorry you have to deal with this, I know it's very scary. I was diagnosed with an SCH at 10 weeks and had it until 20 weeks. It started off as 1cm, then grew to a little over 2cm, I was put on bedrest for two weeks. It started to get a little smaller and then I was able to just be on restricted activity. I spotted/bled on and off until a few days before I was told it was completely gone. I would say almost every day I at least had brown spotting, and I had about 5-6 instances of actually red gushing blood.

As you can see from my siggy, it all worked out! Most of the time SCH's resolve within a few weeks and doesn't affect your pregnancy at all. I hope you get good news on Thurs!
